How to study the Bible?
Firstly, we need to ask the questions are you already a believing Christian? If not, the first place to begin Bible study is with those pages that will help you to know Jesus Christ as your own personal Lord and Saviour. Try Seven Steps to New Life.
If possible, we recommend taking time out to be undistracted from your studies. Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Give yourself at least half an hour to think over your study. It is of course, possible to study the Bible whilst travelling to work on the bus, or during your lunch break. I know because I've done that myself many times! I is not ideal, but if that's all the time you have, don't worry, it will do.
We recommend only doing one study per day. It is better to know one passage well, than to know many passages but not understand them.
If you are fairly new to Bible study, we recommend that you begin with one of the gospels, John being the best place to start. Read the chapter or half a chapter if it is very long. Then sit down to read through the Bible study notes provided at Bible studies online UK. You will read each verse again individually, followed by the commentary. The notes and headings are to guide you in your understanding of each verse.
In time, you will begin to get an overall picture of what God is teaching through his word. But be patient with yourself! The Bible is a big book! You will not understand it all at once. If you have a Bible study question, or you need help understand a passage, remember you are welcome to contact us
